Kennett Coins
Gold CAC stickers are awarded to coins that exceed CAC's stringent standards for the assigned grade. Attaining gold CAC's via submission is not easy, especially on certain types of coins. Amongst the tougher coins to land gold stickers on are Seated Type, Copper, and Morgan Dollars. Some of the easiest coins to receive gold stickers on are Mercury Dimes, Proof Franklin Halves, and ????.
The following contains a selection of gold CAC coins from our long-term holdings.
Featuring the coloration patterns you want to see on wholly original early seated material, this dime housed in a 4.0 holder is "a gem all day" per JA.
Sublime originality and soft luster with almost no wear push this to a technical grade of 58 today. NGC 4.0.
A common-date Walker with uncommon eye appeal for a mostly white coin, and crazy strong luster. NGC 3.0.
Fun fact; PCGS did not attribute CAM/DCAM on "modern" proofs during the rattler era, so there are cherrypicks to be had to the observant buyer. This particular example is a stunning DCAM that should grade 69 today.
A gorgeous PL example with a DMPL obverse. The overall quality of this example is closer to MS65 than MS63, in your authors opinion. Given the looseness of the PL/DMPL designations in the rattler and OGH era, this is a rare bird.
A gorgeous gold coin in a nicely preserved rattler holder. Your authors first gold coin in his personal collection.
These are tough coins to find in old holders, especially with gold CAC. This remains the only affordable example I have come across in my pursuit of this set. Ideally I would love to upgrade to a common date in 63 or so at some point.
